You've heard about Project Based Learning, but now you're
wondering...Sure, it sounds good, but is it right for me and my
students? Isn't it a big change? Can I do it in today's educational
landscape? Our answer is yes, yes, and yes - with some "buts and
ifs" we explore in the PBL Starter Kit.
The PBL Starter Kit is written for middle
school and high school teachers who are new to PBL. It contains
easy to read, brief and to-the-point advice about your first,
relatively simple project, with examples and tools to help you plan
it well. It can be used as a supplement to BIE professional
development workshops or as a stand-alone guide to PBL.
This free supplement explains
how the PBL Starter Kit aligns with BIE's new model for Gold
Standard Project Based Learning. The basic process explained in the
book for designing and managing projects is unchanged; only some
terminology is different.

Great overview of PBL
From Helen Murdoch of Santa Barbara, California on 3/14/2017.
This book was a great place for me to get started on really understanding project-based learning. I had some ideas before reading it, but this step-by-step explanation with real world examples made it all clear. I also liked that the planning charts were included. I am a social studies coach and now feel informed enough to get our teachers started.
